The individual solutions are composed of consulting services , software solutions, analytic tools, the cloud infrastructure via softlayer as well as an accompanying support offer. IBM has merged these components into a single offering so users can quickly deploy these solutions on-the-spot. Users pay to set up the solution and can then choose between a usage-based billing model or rent the solution.

IBM identifies a healthcare provider as a potential location. He could move existing solutions to the cloud and then use the ready-made solutions from IBM to enable certain additional functions or processes. Not only does IBM deliver customization, it also provides support for the transformation.

"Our users now see the cloud as a catalyst for completely new business models," said Kelly Chambliss, CTO of IBM Global Business Services. "The decision to use the cloud to prioritize business is driven, or even driven, by C-Level executives."

IBM offers a total of 12 solutions for the market launch. By the end of the year, this number should increase to 20. In addition, each solution contains several industry-specific versions. IBM is thus ahead of the offerings of competitors such as HP or Amazon, which so far mainly offers Infrastructure-as-a-Service. Many of these solutions were developed by IBM Research in collaboration with users. On the one hand, IBM tries to provide the most specific solutions, on the other hand, typical patterns would emerge across different industries, according to IBM.

So far, IBM offers, 'Care Coordination', through which the care should be organized across multiple organizations. With 'Customer Data' IBM wants to bring together different data sources and thereby improve the planning in the distribution channels. 'Mobile' allows banks, retailers, insurers, logisticians or even healthcare companies to introduce mobile solutions. With 'Smarter Asset Management' companies get precise planning to optimize their investments. With Predictive Maintenance, device downtime can be predicted and planned. IBM also provides Marketing Management, Counter Fraud, Digital Commerce, Adaptive Learning, Digital Commerce, Emergency Management and Customer Master Data Management.
